Richard K. Colarossi, CFP®, AIF®

Richard is an investment advisor with Commonwealth Financial Network®. With more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Richard holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification issued by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. This certification holds financial planners to a strict standard of ethics and professional knowledge.

In addition, Richard has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation. The AIF® designation represents a thorough knowledge of and ability to apply fiduciary practices. AIF® designees have a reputation in the industry for the ability to implement a prudent process into their own investment practices as well as others in implementing proper policies and procedures.

While attending the State University of New York, College at Old Westbury, Richard received a BS in accounting and finance and holds a certificate in financial planning from the Advanced Program of the School of Continuing Studies at C.W. Post College. Richard has also studied behavioral economics and finance theory at NYU School of Professional Development in 2010.

A career in financial planning also serves as an opportunity to become a financial educator. Richard has frequently lectured on retirement and distribution planning. He has appeared as a guest speaker on the television program Dollars & Sense to discuss advanced business planning, including buy/sell agreements and pension plans. In addition, Richard has been published in the Wall Street Journal, the Journal of Financial Planning, Financial Planner Magazine, InvestmentNews, and Long Island Business News.

The role of an independent financial planner is to help individuals and business owners understand their current situations, define future goals, and develop a strategy that is flexible and will help enable them to reach their objectives. Richard has helped provide people with meaningful solutions to a wide range of financial matters, including investment management, retirement planning, risk management, tax planning, and qualified and nonqualified retirement plans.

With access to a broad array of services, resources, and other professionals, Richard will always work within the best interests of his clients. His reputation of integrity coupled with an effort to forge long-term bonds with his clients truly makes him a partner in their financial lives.

A long-time resident of the town of Islip, Richard currently resides there with his wife, Rosalie, and daughter, Jessica. He continues to remain active in many community and school organizations.

With more than 35 years of experience in the financial services industry, Thomas has earned a reputation as a highly respected and experienced financial planner. Thomas holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification issued by the CFP Board of Standards. This certification, earned in 1994 from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado, holds financial planners to a strict standard of ethics and professional knowledge.  In 2022 Thomas received the Retirement Income Certified Professional Designation from The American College of Financial Services. The Retirement Income CertifiedProfessional® (RICP®) designation signifies a financial advisor has advanced education and specialized knowledge in retirement income planning, and is committed to professional and ethical best practices.

As a founding partner, Thomas has been with Colarossi & Williams since the firm’s inception in 2003. In 1991, Thomas joined Allmerica Financial, and it was there that he met Richard Colarossi. With a shared goal of offering an independent alternative to large, traditional brokerage firms, they founded Colarossi & Williams Financial Advisory Group. Financial planning is a partnership built on trust and integrity. With more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Thomas has worked with and guided his clients through some of the most extreme ups and downs the financial markets have ever seen. As a CFP® professional, Thomas works with individuals, families, and business owners to develop a strategic, long-term financial plan that helps them achieve their goals and objectives. He firmly believes that developing a financial plan is much more complex than simply choosing a “good investment” and takes a holistic approach to financial planning and wealth management. He works closely with his clients to ensure that they are on track to meet their financial goals.

As an experienced financial planner, Thomas has also had an opportunity to serve as an educator. He has given classes on investment and insurance issues, retirement income and distribution planning, asset management, estate planning, and long-term care insurance. His courses are open to the community through programs at school districts, colleges, and town organizations on Long Island.

A long-term resident of the town of Brookhaven, Thomas resides there with his wife, Carolyn, and his children: Katie, Tommy, and Brian. As an active member of his community, Thomas coaches youth sports and volunteers his time for school and local organizations such as the ASPCA. He also enjoys fitness, boating, skiing, and golf.

Eileen is a graduate of Hofstra University and holds a bachelor's degree in finance. Prior to joining Colarossi & Williams, Eileen worked for several years as an assistant vice president with Chase Bank. While at Chase, Eileen successfully managed several retail branches where she was acknowledged for her outstanding client relationship management and sales achievements.

After a brief leave of absence from the workforce to raise her children, Eileen joined Colarossi & Williams where she has been instrumental in the growth of the firm. In addition to the processing and supervision of multiple client services, Eileen has been a key contributor to several of our company projects and communications. Her dedication to customer service coupled with her financial industry knowledge has made Eileen an integral part of our company. 

Joseph Torre, ChFC®, AIF®

Joseph joined Colarossi & Williams in October 2009, initially serving as a Marketing and Communications Coordinator. After a short time, it became apparent that Josephs skills and knowledge of the industry warranted an increased role within our organization. Joseph was promoted to an Analyst in June 2015. During that time, Joseph’s role transitioned to managing the majority of our daily operations, compliance procedures, and client services. On the investment side, Joseph led several initiatives including revised screening methodologies, allocation & suitability reviews, risk analysis, and model management. Recently, Joseph spearheaded the development of our current template in which all funds are screened and reviewed. The Investment Management Practices and Procedures for Qualified Plans and Portfolio Management Practices and Procedures manuals provide the template for how we screen, review, and monitor investments for both retail and qualified accounts.

In January 2020, Joseph was published in ThinkAdvisor magazine. In February 2020, Joseph was awarded the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) Designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies®, the standards-setting body for Fi360, a Broadridge company. In October 2021, Joseph along with several industry professionals, was selected as an exam writer for the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) exam.

Currently, Joseph is enrolled in the Chartered Financial Consultant, ChFC®, designation program with the American College of Financial Services. This rigorous program which is comprised of eight college-level courses, prepares planners with in-depth education on financial planning principles, and the practical applications in which to use those principles based on real-life case studies.

Joseph currently holds FINRA Series 7, 24, and 66 securities registrations.  

Thomas O. Williams

Tom is a new addition to Colarossi & Williams and is currently a registered staff member. As a recent college graduate from Marist College with a degree in economics and history, Tom is eager to add value in a number of different ways. From answering phones and servicing client needs to mastering our financial planning software, Tom will gradually take on more responsibility within the firm, ultimately becoming a full-time advisor. The process of becoming an advisor is a long and rigorous one but Tom has taken that task head-on. Since Tom has been in the office, he has passed his Life and Health exam, as well as the FINRA Series 7 and 66 exams. On top of these accomplishments, Tom is currently enrolled with the College for Financial Planning to obtain the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification. We look forward to seeing Tom grow as both an individual and advisor within our firm.

Brian Williams, CFP®

Brian Williams is a financial advisor at Colarossi & Williams Financial Advisory group.  Brian graduated from SUNY Cortland with a bachelor’s degree in business economics with a concentration in Finance. As an advisor of the firm Brian strives to meet new clients and build relationships within the financial community to both add value to clients and the firm. After graduation, Brian began his career in financial planning by passing the SIE, FINRA Series 7 and 66 along with his New York State life and health insurance license. Brian is currently enrolled in The College for Financial Planning to earn the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER designation. On his weekends he works part time as a bartender. During his time at Cortland, Brian was a four-year starter and two-year captain for Cortland men’s lacrosse program. Brian was selected as a 2x first team All-SUNYAC and IMLC All Region East player.  He was also named a 2x USILA All American and was named the SUNYAC MVP in his 2019 season. During his free time, Brian enjoys spending time on his boat in the summer and playing golf. During the winter, Brian is an avid snowboarder who loves to travel to new mountains. He also enjoys listening to music and playing the guitar and piano. Brian is currently working alongside his father and brother as a team, providing their clients a distinct financial planning experience.
